In China, price negotiations are mandatory for originator drugs to be listed on the National Reimbursement Drug List (NRDL), however, the process to determine a reimbursement price is not transparent. In practice, there are a number of drivers influencing the envelope price put forward by the National Healthcare Security Administration (NHSA) at the negotiation stage.
